06/22/2018 Invited seminar in the cycle of conferences of the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (Cordoba, Spain) Heading link

Dr. Cordoba-Chacon was invited to give a seminar focused on the role of hepatocyte PPARgamma in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis by the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba. Dr. Cordoba-Chacon talked about the actions of TZD, a class of drugs used to activate PPARgamma, in the control of diabetes and the results derived from clinical trials that have used these drugs to treat non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. His presentations included published and unpublished results of our research group. This seminar was streamed on the research institute’s youtube channel.

Dr. Cordoba-Chacon was invited to participate in a retreat organized by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Cordoba and held between June 13th and 15th 2018. He showed the scientific interests and results of our group that focused on the regulation of the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in mouse models with alteration of hepatocyte genes.

Gregory Norris earned his PhD in the University of Connecticut on May 2018. The title of his PhD dissertation was: Dietary sphingomyelin for the prevention of metabolic dysfunction. He has joined our group as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Welcome!!!

03/2018 - Visiting Fellow - Pablo J. Remon-Ruiz Heading link
Dr. Remon-Ruiz will be working in our lab for two months. He is a fellow in Medical Intern in Endocirnology and Nutrition int eh University Hospital Virgen del Rocio (Seville, Spain). He will be obtaining experience in our clinic as well.
03/2018 - Early Investigator Award Heading link

We were awarded with one of the five 2018 Early Investigator Awards supported by the Endocrine Society. The Early Investigators Awards provide monetary support to assist in the development of early career investigators and recognition of their accomplishments in areas of general endocrinology. Recipients will receive a monetary award, one-year complimentary membership to the Society, one-year complimentary access to the Society’s online journals, and public recognition of research accomplishments in various Society platforms. The Society’s Annual Meeting and Expo will be held March 17-20, 2018 in Chicago, IL.
